Ultimately, a real understanding of history means that we face nothing new under the sun.” – James Mattis...I created this blog to share things from history that I find interesting, amusing, informative, weird and otherwise worth knowing about. It will include nature, history, business, oddities and history that has been swept under the rug. I learn from history by writing about it; if you read it, even better. If you have any questions or comments about the content, please let me know..

It is good to have you back. I agree with Mattis’ comment that “Ultimately, a real understanding of history means that we face nothing new under the sun.” I would add that is especially true when we come to understand the historic interactions among people. The are those that hang history on people which often doesn’t tell us a lot even though their books may be ponderous, and there are those that hang people on history which often tells us a great deal. There is also the point that history is only a matter of time and location which seems obvious, but rarely is. Just things to think about. I look forward to your postings.
